Today, I lead us in a continuation of our Day 8 conversation with God, focusing on how we interpret situations.
Pray: "Jesus, quiet every voice other than yours. Thank you for your presence with me now."
Ask: "Highlight a situation for me that you want to speak to me about."
It may be a circumstance you are currently dealing with or a situation from the past. It can be big or small, something you’ve forgotten about or something you’ve never been able to shake.
Ask: "How have I interpreted this situation? What am I believing about it ? What have I believed because of it?"
It may help to write down images, memories, or words as God reveals them to you. Then take each of the thoughts that come and ask God about them one by one.
Ask: "Jesus, you’re showing me that I’ve been believing _____________. What do YOU say about that? What is your truth?"
Hearing God’s truth means you now have a choice about what you believe. You can trade your old interpretation for His and in the process break out of the cycle of thought you’ve been stuck in. If you still feel stuck, simply ask Jesus what’s causing that.
Remember, our interpretations lead to our actions.
Ask: "What actions have I been taking because of what I’ve believed about the situation? What do you want me to know about how to act and respond?"
Getting downloads like this from God can transform our lives. Romans 12:2 says "....be transformed by the renewing of your mind." In the Gospel of John, Jesus promises that his truth will set us free. Hearing God was always intended to be life-changing!
