49 Days of Hearing God: Day 33

When God is speaking to you condemnation will not be part of the narrative.

Jesus lived a life of conviction and stated clearly that He did not come to condemn the world, but to save it. (John 3)

The word "save" in this verse is actually a word of judgement—krino—that means to set aside, choose, pick; to approve, esteem, prefer; to show opinion or judgement, to resolve.

Catch this because it’s crucial and it’s at the core of our relationship with Him: Jesus came to show the world God’s judgement of us: so loved. (John 3)

Condemnation questions and accuses.

Condemnation speaks from the shadows.

Condemnation piles on shame.

If we choose to listen to the accusations leveled at us by the voice of condemnation we will live a life of lies in the dark. Conviction, on the other hand, flips the switch and turns the lights on so that we can see. Conviction brings an "AHA!" moment where we see ourselves clearly and get free.

Pray: Jesus, quiet every voice other than yours.

Ask: Jesus, what does condemnation sound like in my life? What are the subtle ways that condemnation speaks to me?

Ask: Jesus, what do you say?
