49 Days of Hearing God: Day 12

By now you know that one of our key questions for connecting with God and locating where his Spirit responds is, "Jesus, am I a child of God?"

It’s intended to be an open door to a conversation with God, but for some people the door feels shut. They can’t get past that question. They don’t sense a "yes" when they ask.

As ONE director, Cayce Harris, teaches, "I imagine the God who made you and knit you together in your mother’s womb is clear on this answer, regardless of whether you are clear on it."

Whether or not we think we are a child of God does not change the facts. But believing a lie about it can deeply impact our experience of life. Sometimes when talking to God we need to push past the answer we’ve been automatically believing. It may simply be a default belief.

So, what is the first thing that comes to your mind when you ask God if you belong to him? If it’s "no" or "maybe" or "sometimes", DON’T STOP THERE.

Ask point blank: "Jesus, I’m thinking I’m not yours. Is that true or is it a lie?"

If you become aware that it’s a lie, ask him where the lie is coming from. You may get a picture, a word, a memory. He may expose an entire faulty belief system

Curious how this might play out? Watch Cayce’s video explaining how a man who was stuck in hopelessness and despair discovered where the "no" he heard was coming from—and how his darkness turned into light.
